31st Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival @ Tom McCall Waterfront Park

Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association presents the 31st Annual Cinco de Mayo, commencing Saturday May 2nd, Sunday May 3rd, closed Monday May 4th, and reopening May 5th at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park from 11am until 11pm. This event is the main fundraiser for the PGSCA’s charitable activities and will feature fun activities for all ages, including authentic food, live entertainment, carnival rides, among other attractions.

Portland’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration was selected by Oregon Festivals and Events Association (OFEA) for its Ovation Award for staging Oregon’s Best Heritage or Cultural Event celebrated during 2012. The award was presented at the association’s annual conference in Seaside.

The main events:


  • Two Stages of Entertainment- Various times throughout event
  • World Record Attempt- Saturday May 2nd 5:30-6:30pm
  • Miss Cinco de Mayo Crowning- Sunday May 3rd 4:30-5:30pm
  • USA Boxing
  • Lucha Libra
  • Live Butterfly Exhibit- Every day of the event from 11am until 10:30pm
  • Children Area- Every day from noon until 10:30pm
  • Artisan Village- Every day from 11am until 10:30pm

2015 Faire in the Grove @ McMenamins Grand Lodge

Step back in time for a day of revels at the Faire in the Grove! Join McMenamins Grand Lodge, Medieval Re-enactors, Armored Fighters, and History Buffs, who invite you to experience the Middle Ages and the Renaissance!

The public is invited to join us for fun and interesting events, entertainments and displays. Amusements include heavy armored combat, rapier, dance, music, storytelling, merchants, merchants, merchants, juggling, medieval cooking, and textile demos, book binding, leather working, strolling musicians, singers and dancers throughout the day.

Hosted on the vast front lawn of the Grand Lodge, come and be transported back to a medieval village. Enjoy seeing and learning some of the history behind life in the middle ages and beyond into the Renaissance.

Free Admission Days @ Portland Children’s Museum

Come enjoy the Museum for free, courtesy of their friend Target, on the first Friday of every month from 4:00pm-8:00pm.

Portland Children’s Museum was founded by visionary Dorothea Lensch in 1946 as part of Portland Parks and Recreation. The Museum is now the sixth oldest children’s museum in the country and each year the Museum welcomes more than 316,000 children from birth to age ten and their caregivers.

The Creek

Since moving to its current location in 2001, the Museum has hosted over 1.6 million visitors from across the country and the world, is home to Opal Public Charter and Museum School, and has become a regional resource for early childhood development. Within the Museum Center for Learning, educators are studying the needs of young children and the kinds of environments and approaches to teaching that inspire children to grow and learn.

Open Gym at The Children's Gym in NE PDX


Children crawling and up are invited to come play in our gymnastics facility whenever they hold Open Gym! A responsible adult must accompany children on the floor. Open Gym happens about everyday from 12:30 to 1:30 Monday- Friday and 1 to 2 on the weekends.

The Children's Gym occupies the space between 16th and 17th Ave on Sandy Blvd, a 12,000 square foot facility. Their gymnastics equipment collection is extensive, encompassing 4 long beams, 2 short beams, low rings, high rings, 3 spring boards that create 3 separate vaulting spaces, a thirty-foot Tumbl Trak, parallel bars, uneven bars, 3 unique sets of junior bars, a large rectangular trampoline, and a 24 by 30 foot floor space for tumbling.

They even have mats of all shapes, sizes, and colors, and the entire gymnastics apparatus area is covered in 2-inch-thick, specially made gymnastics flooring to absorb shock and protect against injury.


For members, cost is $5 for the 1st child and $3 for each additional child. For non-members, cost is $10 for the 1st child and $5 for each additional child.

Clark Public Utilities are pleased to provide this outstanding event for their customer-owners as a way to share important information about utility programs and services that benefit you. But even more, this show provides the perfect opportunity for local businesses and organizations to promote their home and garden related products and services to the communities they serve.


The fair features hundreds of ideas on how to make your home, yard and garden a more beautiful, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly place. Here's the 2015 Show Guide, available in local newspapers just before the event, to give you an idea of what you can look forward to when you join them at the Home & Garden Idea Fair.

It‘s a fun filled show, with activities for the entire family. Admission is FREE and venue parking is $6. Attendees can save on parking by taking a free shuttle bus to the fairgrounds. There were two locations you could catch the shuttle: C-Tran's Fisher's Landing Transit Center on 164th Avenue, and the 99th Street Transit Center at Stockford Village.

We encourage canned food donations for local food banks or cash donations to Operation Warm Heart, but visitors don’t have to spend another dime at the fair unless they want to.


With more than 20,000 people who attend this three-day show each year, the Home & Garden Idea Fair has become one of the most popular community events in Clark County.


The 24th annual Clark Public Utilities Home & Garden Idea Fair will be held at the Clark County Event Center, located at 17402 NE Delfel Road in Ridgefield, Washington, just nine miles north of the I-5 bridge at exit 9.

Hours for the 2015 show are:
Friday, April 24: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, April 25: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, April 26: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Welcome to Poa! - stands for "cool" in Swahilli and is often used in a greeting exchange between friends- long story, ask it. Established in 2014 with emphasis on family + community, creativity, diversity + nutrition, their goal is serve wholesome food at reasonable prices, while providing a thoughtful and inviting space for the modern family.

These people are completely wonderful. Once a week on friday nights they throw an event call Family Film Night. It's a free movie and all the food is cheap, like REALLY cheap. Their happy hour drinks and snack foods are all under $5 and come with free popcorn. Mmmm popcorn....

They have a nice space inside for your kids to play in while you are figuring out what you want to eat or drink and then on to the movie!

Their back area is under construction (only a lil' bit) for a fire-pit, picnic tables and, soon to be sand pit, mud kitchen, sand wall, water feature, and ETC.! This way you won't have to worry about your kids getting bored because their is a lot for kids to do.

Radical 80s Dance Cruise- Adults Only!



The best 80’s dance cruise in Portland is on the Portland Spirit! Break out the hammer pants and leg warmers, time warp to the most radical decade and dance to the best of the 80’s with DJ MC. The cruise starts at 11 pm but boarding begins at 10:30pm and it lasts til 1 am.

You will board the Portland Spirit at Salmon Street Springs Fountain in Portland. (If you don't know where that is, don't worry, they will give you directions when you book your cruise.)
