Mother’s Day Brunch @ East Burn

Established in 2008, EastBurn is a Public House for Portland that is as diverse as it’s population. After finding themselves in the corner pub wherever they are in the world, brothers Mike and Matt Bender with Chef Joseph Dougherty agree that great beer deserves great food. Chef Dougherty focuses on elevating the pub food experience with dishes that comfort and delight, while General Manager Josh Roeder oversees a lovingly curated draft list and cocktail menu.

From brunch on the patio, to live music, to a game of skeeball in the Tap Room, EastBurn has something for everyone!

Check out the Rosarita and Smoke On The Water! Both served with fresh cut jalapeƱo garnish! Perfect cocktails for this perfect weather!

Portland Mother’s Day- Run Like a Mother 5K & Kids Race

Run Like a Mother - Portland

Run Like A Mother® is an inspiring, celebratory event involving the entire family that engages women at every stage of a woman’s life. We are a community of women joined together by the power of running who share a desire to live healthy, balanced lives. We offer support, motivation, inspiration and education. Through merchandising and a variety of communication touch points, the Run Like A Mother mission extends beyond race day.

The mission of Run Like A Mother is to fuel a woman’s journey toward health and wellness. Empower with education and training programs. Inspire with communities, events and races. Enable through programs and partnerships

National organization Run Like A Mother announces its 2015 5K race in Portland. Runners will experience a scenic closed course run in beautiful Cook Park in Tigard on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10. Participants, along with family and friends, will enjoy a post-race party featuring live entertainment.

This year, Run Like A Mother Portland is proud to support the Northwest Mother’s Milk Bank. Northwest Mother’s Milk Bank is proud to be the only non-profit human milk bank in the Pacific Northwest. Their mission is to collect, pasteurize and distribute donor human milk for medical needs. Their values guide the work that they do; community, health, compassion, integrity and generosity.

Race participants will have a number of unique opportunities to support this important community charity. Runners can make a donation when they register for the race, or they can choose to purchase a special charity registration, which includes race entry, specialized Run Like A Mother bib, merchandise and more.

A celebration of women, Run Like A Mother was founded in 2008 by Ridgefield, CT resident and certified personal trainer, coach and author Megan Searfoss. Since its start, Run Like A Mother has encouraged more than 25,000 women in all stages of motherhood (novice, new and experienced) across the country to make running a part of their life.

“Through Run Like A Mother, women everywhere can feel motivated and inspired to get on their feet and keep exercising,” said Searfoss. “The race gives women an opportunity to be a part of something that helps them meet their fitness goals while giving back to the community.”

Registration is currently open for the race and six-week training program. Race day registration will be available after online registration closes. Additional information on the race, training, charity partner and post-race party can be found at www.runlikeamother.com. Join them on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Funny Cups for Mother's Day!

Mother's Day Funny Mug!
This woman has nothing but cool cups with funny or just plain chuckle worthy sayings on them.

Definitely something the mom in your life would love. Plus, if you don't feel like buying one, try buying a ceramic cup and paint a saying on it! Trust me, it'll be a success.

I would actually love one for Mother's day (hint hint). Just imagine bringing your mom a fresh cup of tea or coffee in this, it would be a pleasant surprise and put her in a good mood for the rest of the day!

Go here and check out the other cups she has for yourself!

Handprint Plates for Mother's Day

These plates are so cute! They are super simple and cheap!

Plates are $1 at The Dollar Tree.
Acrylic Paint (Wal-Mart, Michaels, etc)

Paint your kids hand,  place the hands on the plate, BAKE at 350 for a few minutes to bake the paint on, last of all- use a sharpie to write their name and year on the plate.  BAM!

I love this idea, tried doing it with my own kids but didn't turn out so neatly! But it's okay, next time I think I'm going to let them cover the plates with hand prints in different colors.
