The Winter Wings Run, sponsored and directed by the Linkville Lopers, is one of the oldest continuous races that takes place in the Klamath Basin. This year’s event will take place at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 15th, the last day of the festival. The run starts and ends at the Harbor Isles Tennis and Fitness Club, 2805 Front St in Klamath Falls. Race options include a 2-Mile Run/Walk and a 5k Run. Sign-up will be on race day and fees are $7.00 per runner or $20.00 per family. A limited number of T-shirts will be available to purchase on a first-come first-served basis. The run began in 1987 as the Bald Eagle Run and continues to be a fun family, dog-friendly event, held every year (weather permitting) on the Sunday afternoon of Presidents Day weekend.

Favell Finley Exhibit
The Favell Museum will host  Put A Bird On It: Nature Photography of William L. Finley, a traveling exhibition celebrating Finley, a nationally known bird photographer, naturalist, and advocate for wildlife preservation. This exhibit provides a stunning and unique glimpse through his lens. Finley, the “Father of Oregon’s National Wildlife Refuges,” helped set up Oregon’s federal wildlife refuge system. If not for Finley, the great marshes of Klamath, Tule and Malheur might have been lost forever. Featuring forty of Finley’s bird photographs (1902 –1920), these photographs are considered to be of the very best quality for the era.

Formal Exhibit Opening – Sunday, February 15, 2015

10 am to 5 pm • Free Admission to all on February 15th

Steve Rooker, Interpretive Park Ranger, Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex will be at the museum to provide information and answer questions about the legacy and career of William L. Finley.

PUT A BIRD ON IT was created by the Washington County Museum and is traveling to Klamath Falls as a part of the annual Winter Wings Festival.

Janann Loetscher, Executive Director of the Favell Museum, says: “We are excited to feature such a large amount of Finley’s bird photographs. They are truly outstanding and give you such an appreciation for our place here in the Pacific Flyway. This exhibit is a great kick off for the Winter Wings Festival, but will be available for viewing through April. Don’t miss it!”
