A classic Japanese flower with surprising variety, the camellia blooms from midwinter to early summer in an array of red, white, and pink. Characters in the Camellia genus range from spontaneous, sprawling, and painterly to delicate, uncannily symmetrical, and restrained. Each spring, the Oregon Camellia Society brings their best in breed to show at the Portland Japanese Garden’s Pavilion Gallery. Camellia Society participants are on hand to discuss the care, feeding, pruning, and identification of their plants. This once-a-year show is a botanical treat not to be missed.
