Belmont Library

I find that it's hard to get my son interested in reading so I love going to these events in Libraries. One reason, because he can socialize with other children his age. Second reason, he can learn things with them which makes him more likely to understand and learn!

Riddles, Sea Turtles and Pirates, Ahoy!
Join Portland's own sister/brother team of Laura and Robert Sams -- award-winning authors, filmmakers and musicians -- for a hilarious, ocean-filled, pirate-filled, music-filled program. First, watch their award-winning underwater children's film The Riddle in a Bottle, filled with high definition footage of sea turtles, tide pool creatures, dolphins and a one-legged singing pirate. Then see how they turned the pirate's Peg Leg Song into their award-winning children's book called A Pirate's Quest. Sing with the one-legged pirate! Look for underwater animals! Watch how Robert Sams posed as a pirate for the book's illustrator, who painted more than 40 original oil paintings for the story.
The program is on Jan. 9th at 3:30 p.m. and lasts for about an hour. You do need a ticket in advance but they have a free ticket giveaway available half an hour for the event ( I recommend being there for that!)

Belmont Builders
Now if you don't make it in time for the Pirates thing then this also runs on Jan. 9th and at 3:30 p.m. for an hour.

Kids get to drop in and explore thier building prowess with Legos, K'nex, and more cool things! They supply all the materials so no need to bring anything. All ages are welcome!

Preschool Storytime
This program is children from ages 3 to 6 (also with an adult). They can have some fun while with some pretty fun books, songs, and activities as they learn and build up their literacy skills.

This takes place on Jan. 10th at 11:30 a.m. and lasts for about half an hour. It's first come, first serve but worth it!

Family Storytime
A really good event they have is Family Storytime. It's for children from birth to age 6 (with an adult). They get to enjoy books, songs, rhymes, and movement activities while building language and literacy skills.

This event takes place on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 10:14 a.m. and lasts about half an hour. It's first come, first serve so show up on time!
