Ice Art Experiment

Salt Painting Ice Sculptures
I found this really cool ice experiment a while ago and found it to be perfect for little ones! This experiment satisfies their curiosity and looks awesome. Your kids will have a blast watching the colors leak down.

Materials

  • Kosher salt (works much better with Kosher than the other stuff!)
  • Empty milk carton
  • Water
  • Food colorng
  • Baking pan or tray

Directions
  1. Fill an empty milk carton with water and then freeze the water.
  2. Place the ice block on a baking pan.
  3. Have the children sprinkle salt on top of the block
  4. Have the kids add drops of food coloring onto the salt.
  5. The colors will now start to seep inside the block of ice so you'll get to listen to your kids ooh and aah as the the salt melted crevasses into the ice.
