Old Wives' Tale

Old Wives' Tales has been open since 1980, offering a multi-ethnic menu of vegetarian, chicken and seafood dishes. The extensive menu, including many small plates and a la carte choices, makes it possible to select a range of dining experiences from light meals to multi-course feasts. The restaurant is famous for its Salad Bar and for its Hungarian Mushroom Soup, which is always available on the Soup Bar, along with two choices of vegan, gluten-free vegetable soups that change daily.
The Children's Menu is also very different from those at other restaurants, beginning with the fact that nothing is deep-fried. Nutritious, delicious sesame mashed sweet potatoes (not french fries!) Natural grilled chicken breast-no empty calorie breading & gluten-free. Kids love the soups and building their own salad at the salad bar. This restaurant just off the east side of the Burnside Bridge and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The lengthy (we are talking vast) menu includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, even for kids’ meals. There’s an open playroom in front for kids to run and climb, so parents can linger over a glass of wine. This is the perfect spot for a no-wait brunch on weekends. Breakfast is served all day so you don’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn to get your pancake fix. It also offers free wifi!
